MORGAN MURPHY - BIO
Morgan has produced, directed, instructed and performed in film, theatre, radio and new media on both coasts, in Europe, Asia and the Caribbean. He is a founding producer of Whitebridge Farm Productions, a film/theatre production company he started with Lori Gigliotti Murphy and Oscar and Golden Globe-winning author of ON GOLDEN POND, Ernest Thompson. Recent professional projects as producer include the films HEAVENLY ANGLE, TIME AND CHARGES and BUTTERFLY BLUE (also writer and director) and stage productions of ON GOLDEN POND and the world premiere of POLITICAL SUICIDE.
Murphy’s awards as producer include the Grand Jury Prize for Best Short at the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival, Best Narrative at Hollywood's MiniDV Festival and Outstanding Achievement at the international DV Awards. Favorite stage directing credits include FIDDLER ON THE ROOF at the Palace Theatre in NH, ADOPT A SAILOR at Manhattan Theater Club with Bebe Neuwirth and Matthew Modine, AN ACTOR’S CAROL at the Arts Council of Princeton, SPRING AWAKENING at Plymouth State University’s Silver Center and the World Premiere of WILDERNESS OF MIRRORS by Charles Evered at Whitman College’s Harper Joy Theater. For MTV’s Headbangers Ball and world release, Murphy directed two music videos (DRIVEN and BEG 2 DIFFER) with the multi-Gold Record heavy metal band Sevendust.
Recent roles include Bryan and Mooch in Whitebridge films and Bill in ON GOLDEN POND. Murphy was an appointed member of the NH State Film Commission, serves on the board of the Global Character Institute and recently served on the board of NH Theatre Awards.
Morgan earned his B.A. as a President’s Scholar at Whitman College where he was also honored with the Young Alumni Award and received his M.F.A. from the University of Connecticut on full talent scholarship. He also holds a training certificate from National Shakespeare Conservatory in NY and studied Meisner technique with Sanford Meisner at his home in the British West Indies. Murphy has also helped to develop programs in the arts in schools around the world including NewOPEN in Chongqing, China, St Paul’s School in NH, and Greenwich Country Day School in Greenwich, CT, among others. He is thrilled to work on technological innovations with NeurSciences – making the world a better place every day. Murphy serves as Chairman of the Board of the Global Character Institute. He cherishes his wife, Lori, and children, Cullen and Logan, for their love and support.
